I always used to make our pies in a graham cracker crust. Never again!
The Apple Crisp Cheesecake is out of this world.
One of my biggest highlights of 2024 was attending and competing in the @apcpie National Pie Competition in Orlando, Florida! Not only did I have the opportunity to compete against the countries largest pie makers and bakeries, but also had the opportunity to meet one of my biggest inspirations, Michele Stewart, author of Perfect Pies (she even signed my first pie cookbook 🤩 #starstruck)! We competed, learned, met amazing people, had so much fun, and yes, ate lots of pie!!! This experience gave me lasting memories that couldn’t go without being digitally scrapbooked 😍.
Shoutout to @thepieous for not only a wonderful presentation, but also taking pie to the next level….it’s pretty cool.

🍒 In celebration of National Cherry Turnover Day today, I thought I’d share this delicious recipe for a Cherry Crumb Pie using our @ruffledapronfoods Almond Nut Pie Crust! See below for recipe ⬇️
Crust:
1 RAF Almond Nut Pie Crust, thawed
Filling:
6 cups frozen tart cherries (about 32 ounces)
2/3 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
Crumble Topping:
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
6 Tbsp. cold butter, diced
Combine the cherries and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cool until the juices are hot and bubbling, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in the balsamic vinegar and cook for another minute. Stir together the cornstarch and lemon juice in a small bowl, stir into the cherry mixture. Continue to cook until glossy and thickened, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. (*You may make this the day before, just cover and refrigerate until ready to the next day)
Now onto the crumb topping: Whisk together the flour, brown sugar and salt in a large bowl. Rub in the butter with your fingers until it is in pea-size pieces and the ingredients are well combined. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes. (*You can also make this the day before too)
Let’s Bake it! Preheat the oven to 375˚. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Place thawed RAF crust on baking sheet. Pour the cooled cherry mixture into the pie crust and sprinkle with the crumb topping. Bake until the filling is bubbling, and the crumble is golden brown, about 50 minutes. Let cool at least 2 hours before serving. Can be served warm, room temperature or cold.
