Hi, I’m Locke Jiranek and I make pie crusts from Almonds!  I’m a southern girl, born and raised in Pensacola, Florida who attended the University of Alabama, Roll Tide Roll.  I majored in Hospitality Management, graduated in 2007, and began life after college working as a General Manager for an all fresh, fast casual restaurant concept.  I fell in love with a West Coast man, moved out to sunny Southern California, have two beautiful daughters, and love being their mom.  I’m an entrepreneur at heart and make each pie crust, pie and quiche with lots of love.

First, I’d love to give you a quick briefing in the world of Pie Crusts.

For decades, you’ve been limited to two options for pie crusts in the grocery store: option 1) the heavy, flour, dough-based pie crusts found in the freezer or refrigerated section and option 2) the crumb crusts found on the baking aisle, most notably the graham cracker crust.  These two options are both loaded with sugar and preservatives, some using upwards of 18 ingredients in 1 pie crust.  Nuts, right?!!  We are all smart enough to recognize, neither of these options are health forward and neither are delicious.  This was the Ah-ha moment when Ruffled Apron Foods was founded.  Ruffled Apron Foods was established to fill the gap in the pie crust market.  It was established for people like you and I to elevate our baking experience without sacrificing convenience, taste, or nutrients.

Our journey started in my home kitchen.  Always having a love for baking and being in the kitchen, I began baking pies in a homemade almond nut crust I created.  Many people enjoyed the pies I made and always complimented the crust!  I decided to transition from something that could be seen as a hobby, to see if others would be as interested and excited about Almond Nut Crusts as I was.  I started selling our pie crusts at the local Farmer’s Market.  Due to popular demand, we grew to a commercial kitchen producing crusts and pies for local independent grocery stores, and now have scaled nationwide producing crusts, pies and quiches.  I have a team of bakers and amazing people surrounding me in support to help make my “nutty” dreams come true.

Our mission is to produce wholesome products with quality ingredients that everyone can enjoy with peace of mind.  Keeping these core values are the fore front of every recipe we develop, is why we’re proud that our products stand out in the details.  How do we do this?  We start with our pie crust.

Our Signature Almond Nut Pie Crust are made with FIVE quality ingredients.  Raw, California grown almonds, coconut oil, flaxseeds, purified water, and cinnamon.  Each crust begins by grinding whole almonds to the perfect consistency.  Keeping the skins on the almonds provides the powerful antioxidants found in the almond skin and provides additional fiber.  This makes our pie crusts not only delicious, but also gluten free, vegan, paleo & keto friendly, contain no added sugar or sodium, all natural, and NON-GMO Certified!

We are proud that pies and quiches are gluten free and contain no artificial colors, flavorings, or preservatives as well.  Our entire pie and quiche selection is prepared in our Almond Nut Pie Crust.

I believe most people that know me well would say that almond pie crusts and pies are quite frankly, just part of my identity.  I wrote my first business plan for Ruffled Apron Foods many years ago, however it’s always been a constant in my life and something I truly feel is my destiny.  I want everyone to enjoy pie, to experience it bite by bite and be inspired by the everyday delights, like dessert.
